and so on is best for an ordered list, or something repeated such as 1,3,5,7 and so on; red, green, blue, red , green, blue, and so on.

If you were talking to your friend about what some tourists saw in Iguaçu, you might say 'and so on' because it is, in a way, repeated. Your friend probably knows the other places in the list, so you only say a few and then 'and so on'

*I understand the tourists well

Interesting note: If was raining heavily and the tourists decided to go to the hotel and they missed an experience, but you understood their reason, you might say "I can well understand the tourists..." This means that you know what they were thinking or feeling. Example: I can well understand why you like living in Iguaçu
