Comentário de Julia Siqueira Pignta em 10 janeiro 2013 às 3:09

Sorry, but the only place I know in Rio de Janeiro (state) is Angra dos Reis, and that place is amazing. But I don't know the city, ad I assumed that you are going to the city, right?

IT DEPENDS WHAT YOU PREFER IN THE CITY. BEACH HAS IN ALL SIDES BUT YOU IF PREFER WEATHER OF MONTAINS YOU WILL CAN VISIT PETRÓPOLIS OR TERESÓPOLIS.

We are beach people, so we will spend a few days on the beach.  Where should we go at night and is safety an issue in the city?

Any places to avoid?

Thanks for your responses!!

Comentário de Julia Siqueira Pignta em 11 janeiro 2013 às 21:40

Comentário de Leticia Andrade em 11 janeiro 2013 às 22:35

Desculpa Julia... Na verdade as palavras existem mas foram usadas incorretamente...

''If you would like to converse in english, please write back.  I'll be going to Rio in Feb and want to know a little bit about the area.  Tell me why you love rio and give me some places I should check out.''

CORRETO:

''If you want to talk to me in English, please write me back. I'll go to Rio in Feb and I want to know a little bit around the area. Let me know why do you love Rio and give me some places that I should to check.

Haha!  Hi Julia, I assure you that I am a native speaker...I grew up in New York and still live there, perhaps that is why some of my phrases seem nonsensical!  This is the way that we speak, I promise.

I don't speak portuguese at all, will I be OK in rio?

Julia, your correction also makes sense, for your information.

Thanks for the lively discussion!!

Comentário de Julia Siqueira Pignta em 13 janeiro 2013 às 23:48

you will be fine, because if somewhere they don't speak english they will try everything to make you understand. lol
well, I really think you are a native, because I'm living in Chicago right now and, I mean, I think Leticia studied english for a long time, because she is just like my friend always trying to say everything really ''correct''. But I never studied english in Brazil, I learned with musics, I like the song and wanted to see the meaning...
And that's why here in Chicago I think is much more easy for me because I don't think about the grammar to talk...I just talk, mostly my phrases are not ''correct'' but everybody can understand me, and now because I'm living with american people I'm getting better. :)
